Getting to Know the New Owners of Ruidoso Downs Race Track

Stan Sigman, Chairman: He is a graduate of West Texas State University and began his career with Southwestern Bell Telephone in 1965. A leader in the wireless industry, he helped create SBC Communication’s wireless business in the mid-1980s, managed its expansion into one of the largest wireless businesses in the nation and directed its integration into Bell South’s wireless group to form Cingular Wireless in 2001. He’s regarded as a wireless industry visionary and has been inducted into the Wireless History Foundation Hall of Fame. Sigman has a horse farm and ranch, and his race horses normally have his last name spelled backwards, “Namgis”.

Johnny Trotter: An avid horseman and roper, Trotter has served as director of First National Bank Shares, Inc., and is President of Livestock Investors, ltd., one of the largest cattle feeders in the United States. He is an officer in Deaf Smith Enterprises, a privately owned real estate company, and is President of Whiteface Ford dealership in Hereford, Texas. Trotter is past-president of the American Quarter Horse Association and has owned many champion race horses.


John Andreini is the founder, chairman of the board and CEO of Andreini & Company, considered one of the largest privately held insurance brokerage firms in the United States. He has bred and raced quarter horses since 1968 primarily in California. Andreini is involved in the American Quarter Horse Association including its racing committee and racing council.

Narciso (Chicho) Flores is a native Texan who grew up working in the construction business and today is involved in a family partnership that owns one of the nation’s largest drywall installation and supply companies. A lifelong horseman, Flores owns a ranch in Ledbetter, Texas where his family raises horses. Flores has been a director in Texas Quarter Horse Association and American Quarter Horse Association, and has raced horses throughout the nation.

General Manager/President

Jeff True is a 30+ year veteran of the horse racing industry having served in multiple roles including bloodstock agent, track management, and, immediately prior to the Ruidoso role, as a technology company executive.  A native of Plano Texas and graduate of Tarleton State University, True now resides in Alto, NM.
